Diabetes Program Resources

The AAIP Diabetes Program is a member of the National Diabetes Education Program American Indian Alaska Native Workgroup. This workgroup develops culturally sensitive and relevant campaigns and materials to target diabetes education in Native populations. Our program has provided a comprehensive list of AIAN materials and campaigns below. These materials are beneficial to use at community events, powwows, health fairs and in schools to provide basic diabetes prevention and control messages.

              Legacy/E-Legacy

AAIP Diabetes Program creates a monthly electronic newsletter, E-Legacy, and an annual hardcopy newsletter, the Legacy. Each issue of the E-Legacy contains current information and materials from the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP), as well as, current AAIP Diabetes Program information. The E-Legacy is distributed through the AAIP Diabetes Listserv and posted on the webpage for easy download. The annual Legacy is mailed out yearly and can also be found on the webpage.

Diabetes Resource Guide
The AAIP AI/AN Diabetes Resource Guide for Health Professionals contains current trends, statistics and reference articles on diabetes among the AI/AN population. The guide includes a Facts-at-a-Glance booklet and the complete guide is on a compact disc. At this site you can download the complete guide. Click here to go to the DRG page.

      AI/AN Billboards
The We Have the POWER to Prevent Diabetes outdoor billboard files were designed to visually represent the National Diabetes Education Program’s (NDEP) Power to Prevent message in Indian Country. There are several billboard variations available for use, which – when used consistently – help link our diverse communities and present one common message
