Greetings to All:
aaip

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Association of American Indian Physicians 35th Annual Meeting and National Health Conference. Minnesota is home to many Native peoples and tribes and we are pleased to greet you to our beautiful lands.

This year’s meeting, “Sharing the Knowledge: Best Practices and Current Issues in American Indian Health”, was decided upon after thoughtful deliberation and discussion. Many people, including AAIP members, work hard for the betterment of Indian health. They provide innovative leadership and work with communities to prevent disease, encourage healthy living, and treat illness. We wish to showcase their best practices and learn from one another during the many presentations.

Our communities are at the heart of who we are as Indian people and physicians. We are pleased that our local and regional communities will be joining us for the annual inter-tribal pow-wow on Saturday, August 8. This is a wonderful time to reconnect and visit. We also have many new physicians attending this year and look forward to welcoming them to the membership.

This year’s meeting is at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverfront in St. Paul, Minnesota. Along with its ‘twin city’, Minneapolis, the area has much to offer. The Science Museum of Minnesota is within walking distance of the hotel, and is hosting a truly revolutionary exhibit, ‘Body Worlds’. Our cities have numerous parks and recreational facilities for families, including Harriet Island, located directly across from the hotel.

I am pleased to welcome you to Minnesota, and hope you enjoy your time with us. Please take a few moments to review the conference agenda and learn more about the events occurring during the 2006 Meeting/Conference by clicking on the links below.

Joy Dorscher, MD
