2008 MCAT Scholarship Application
ATTENTION: AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE COLLEGE STUDENTS
The Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) announces scholarships available to undergraduate / graduate students who plan to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) in 2008. Through AAIP’s Careers In Health For Native Students (CHNS) Program, five students will be awarded a travel scholarship to attend the Kaplan’s MCAT diagnostic exam and orientation/strategy session in Oklahoma on Saturday, January 19, 2008 then return to their home state to complete the MCAT preparatory course online.
The MCAT preparatory course teaches students MCAT test content along with critical thinking, and crisis management. Critical thinking includes strategies that improve test taking efficiency and accuracy. Crisis management allows students to approach their 2008 MCAT with complete confidence. During the MCAT diagnostic exam and orientation, students are oriented to the Kaplan’s test prep online program structure and guidelines. Following orientation, students will take a diagnostic exam to outline their strengths and weaknesses.
All textbooks, tests, and supplemental materials are supplied by the AAIP/CHNS department through Kaplan and free of charge to participants. In addition to review books, students will have their own online MCAT home page with additional workshops and practice tests.
Applicants must complete the AAIP Student Primary Data Sheet (PDS) and provide a recent College and/or University Transcript. Preference will be given to students who have attended an AAIP Pre-Admission workshop in the past 3 years and to students who have followed a pre-medical course curriculum in school. A student that has previously taken the MCAT though scored low will be considered for the scholarship. Application deadline is January 4, 2008.
