AAIP Offers Student Scholarships for the 2008 Cross Cultural

American Indian/Alaska Native Students
The Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) announces scholarships available for medical and pre-med students to attend the 16th Annual Cross Cultural Medicine (CCM) Workshop. The CCM workshop will be held on April 24 – 27, 2008 in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the Hotel Santa Fe. The purpose of the workshop is to provide physicians, medical students, faculty, minority program staff, counselors, and other health care professionals with a greater understanding of Western and Traditional Medicine.
Issues and strategies will include improving communication between American Indian/Alaska Native patients and health professionals, describing current health issues affecting Indian communities, comparing and contrasting Western and Traditional views of health, and improving understanding of the role of traditional healers. The agenda includes a special variety of traditional healers and speakers representing several different tribes throughout the country.
To apply for the scholarship, you must complete and submit the “Student Scholarship Application” along with a one-page letter explaining your interest in attending the CCM workshop no later than Tuesday, April 1, 2008. A total of ten scholarships will be awarded that will pay for the $350 registration fee, travel, lodging, and most meals.
