NIDDK Application
American Indian/Alaska Native Students
The Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) announces scholarships available
to attend the 37th AAIP Annual Meeting and National Health Conference in Worley, ID,
July 23 – 29, 2008. The conference will have presentations offered by experts and leaders
in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) healthcare and policy making issues.
Presentations include information on current trends, policy, research, and practice issues
concerning AI/AN populations.
The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Office of
Minority Health Research Coordination will award eighteen undergraduate students
interested in research scholarships to attend the AAIP conference. Selected scholars will
be required to attend an NIDDK session on Research Training Opportunities to be held
during the conference. The remainder of the conference will be yours to attend all the
other scheduled sessions and social activities. This scholarship provides for the student’s
airfare, hotel lodging, and $59 per diem for meals and incidental expenses.

- One-page letter regarding your interest in research
- Copy of Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or Tribal Identification
- Recent College/University Transcript
- Letter of Recommendation – Must be completed by a College/University faculty member, preferably a science professor
- Recent photograph
Applications must be postmarked by Friday, June 20, 2008 and mailed to the
following address: AAIP/NIDDK Scholarship, 1225 Sovereign Row, Ste. 103, Oklahoma
City, OK 73108. The NIDDK application can be downloaded from the AAIP homepage
at www.aaip.org, application is located under “AAIP News and Announcements” section.
The NIDDK scholarship is awarded on a one-time only basis. If you have any questions
