2006-2007 ANAMS Executive Board
Michael H Arredondo - Eastern Shawnee
President
University of Minnesota-Duluth/2007
My name is Michael H. Arredondo and it has been an honor to serve you and the ANAMS Executive Board for four consecutive years. I attend the University of Minnesota Med School and have been active in the Indian Health Pathway Curriculum that was developed by the Center of American Indian and Minority Health (CAIMH) at UofM.
My current interests in medicine include Native health disparities in the areas of interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and intensive care.
I have enjoyed knowing and working with many of you. I look forward to meeting each of you and encourage all of you to come to the conferences and to be involved in ANAMS. We need your skill and talent to ensure a strong future for American Indian medical students. See you in April at the Cross Cultural Medicine Workshop in Santa Fe and also in August at the Annual Meeting in Nashville!

Siobhan Maureen Wescott- Athabascan
Treasurer
Harvard/2007
Hi, I’m Siobhan Wescott, an Athabascan from Fairbanks, Alaska. Currently, I’m a fourth year at Harvard Medical School. Service on the ANAMS board is a welcome responsibility, especially when it comes to making the path easier for Native students who wish to enter medical school.
The ANAMS organization also provides a sense of camaraderie. Living in Boston and the intense schedule of medical school makes life pretty hectic. The good friends I’ve made through ANAMS help keep it all in perspective.
One of the wonderful things about where I go to school is that we have a summer research program run by Native students and alumni. The Four Directions Summer Research Program is in its 12 year. For more information, please visit http://www.hms.harvard.edu/dms/diversity/fdsrpintro.html

Jenny Smokey - Washoe/Kiowa
Membership Coordinator
University of Nevada/2007
Hello, my name is Jenny Smokey and I am Washoe and Kiowa from Gardnerville, Nevada. I am currently a 4th year at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. I am pursuing a residency in pediatrics, and hope to complete a fellowship in critical care. This is my third year on the executive board and I can honestly say that ANAMS is the most meaningful organization that I have ever been a part of. It has been a pleasure getting to know other Native students interested in medicine at all of the conferences and pre-admission workshops. The executive board is here to help, so please contact any of us with any questions you may have.

Joel Patrick Chisholm-Chippewa, Bay Mills Indian Community
Member-at-Large
Brody School of Medicine at ECU/2008
Joel Chisholm - I am an Ojibwe tribal member of the Bay Mills Indian Community and third year medical student at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. I am extremely excited and honored to be an executive member of ANAMS this year. I highly recommend getting involved with ANAMS and attending conferences in order to meet other students and learn about the latest Native American health care topics. I helped reorganize our local ANAMS chapter at my medical school and we have held numerous events. I encourage others to do the same in order to help educate your fellow students about American Indian culture and help get funding through your school to attend AAIP events. This year looks to be full of positive energy, challenges, and change for our organization; and everyone’s support will be greatly valued.
