Buprenorphine DEA Waiver Workshop Scholarship*

Through the University of Iowa and the National American Indian & Alaska Native Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC), up to ten (10) travel support scholarships are being offered on a first come first serve basis specific to American Indian/Alaska Native serving physicians, physicians assistants and nurse practitioners participating in the Buprenorphine DEA Waiver Workshop presented August 10th, 2019 in conjunction with the AAIP 48th Annual Meeting and National Health Conference.  Applicants must meet the following criteria:  

  1. Be a tribal health programs provider (see above) with prescription writing capacity 
  2. Work directly with Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) program grantees
  3. Participate in the Buprenorphine DEA Waiver Course scheduled for Saturday afternoon, August 10, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm the AAIP Annual Meeting and National Health Conference presented at the Crowne Plaza Hotel West Loop, Chicago, IL
  4. Submit applications on or before July 15, 2019

Travel Support Scholarship Details

The AAIP’s 48th Annual Meeting and National Health Conference is scheduled for August 8-10, 2019 at the Crowne Plaza West Loop, Chicago, IL.  The Workshop is scheduled for Saturday August 10, 2019 beginning promptly at 1 PM.

The travel support scholarship shall include

  1. Roundtrip airfare
  2. Lodging cost for two nights (if booked at the conference rate by July 15th)
  3. One (1) day Conference registration fee of $200

Should the physician/physician assistant/nurse practitioner desire to attend the entire conference, the scholarship amount can be applied toward the fees assessed with the remaining fees such as added registration, added hotel room nights, etc. 

To apply for the travel support scholarship award, providers must submit a 1-page letter requesting support, a short description of their work they are doing with the TOR grantee and confirmation of prescription privileges.  Travel support scholarship will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis provided applicant meets the above requirements.  Deadline for submitting a request is July 15, 2019.  To submit your request and for any questions contact:  Margaret Knight, 405-946-7072 email:  [email protected]
