AAIP Executive Director Announces Retirement

Posted by AAIP News on 08/06/2014

Dear AAIP,

After 27 years, and the last 19 years as the Executive Director of AAIP, I am announcing my retirement at the end of this year.  I have enjoyed the challenges, the numerous board members I served, and the many students who grew into full members whom I have had the privilege of serving over the years.   My greatest accomplishment was assisting students in some small ways to become medical doctors. I hope I have helped you all along your path. Working with you professionally and, of course, becoming your friend has been truly my personal motivation throughout the years.

I have worked very hard and have been successful in securing grants over the years from federal and state agencies and universities. These agencies and universities have developed a great rapport and trust with AAIP knowing that we will administer and manage our grants successfully.  Of course, I could not have possibly done all of this without a competent, professional and motivated staff over the years, and I am very appreciative and grateful for their efforts.   This also includes the many presidents and board members I served under over the years.

Thank you all for allowing me to serve you and a great organization.  I will be returning to my village in New Mexico on the Laguna Pueblo reservation to spend time with my father, grandsons and to relax and play tennis and golf.  I hope our paths cross many times. Please keep in touch. I remain your friend forever.

Margaret Knight
