NIDDK Announces Travel Awards for Undergraduate Students to AAIP's 48th Annual Meeting and Health Conference!

A limited number of travel awards will be offered to American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate students who may have an interest in biomedical research relating to National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) mission areas including diabetes, endocrinology, metabolism, nutrition, obesity and digestive liver urologic, kidney and hematologic diseases. As a recipient of this award students will receive paid travel expenses, lodging and per diem to attend the full AAIP Annual Meeting and Health Conference that will be held in Chicago, IL on August 8-11, 2019. Students will be required to attend a workshop on NIDDK Research and Training opportunities while at the Annual Conference.

Undergraduate students who receive the NIDDK scholarships have priority in the NIDDK Diversity Summer Research Training Program (DSRTP) should they meet the DSRTP eligibility requirements. To learn more about the DSRTP, please click the link below:

NIDDK Diversity Summer Research Training Program Details

Students who have previously participated in the DSRTP or who have received an NIDDK scholarship in the past are not eligible to apply. 

To apply for the undergraduate travel award, students must submit an AAIP Primary Data Sheet, must be an undergraduate AI/AN student, must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, must have an interest in biomedical research and the NIDDK scientific research areas and must provide a personal statement. 

The deadline to submit an application and all required documentation is Wednesday, June 19, 2019 and the application and materials must be received by the AAIP office on this date. Late applications will not be considered. Please click the link below to download the application:
