American Indian and Alaska Native Specimens Policy Development Project

The American Indian and Alaska Native Specimens Policy Development Project will provide expert advice and support to the CDC to assist in the development and implementation of policy that will focus on the culturally appropriate handling and management of Native laboratory specimens. AAIP will partner with the CDC, Tribal Support Unit (TSU), the Office of Surveillance, Epidemiology and Laboratory Services, expert consultant – Dr. Doris Cook, tribal leaders, and tribal communities to facilitate the CDC initiative to development and implement a policy for appropriate handling of Native laboratory specimens. AAIP will provide expertise on cultural issues to CDC and the TSU during specimen policy development.
