GSA COSFA Community Call: GE/FVT Reporting and 2025 Fin. Aid Meeting Brainstorming
Join the GSA’s Committee on Student Financial Assistance (COSFA) for a community call to discuss the Department of Education’s Gainful Employment (GE) and Financial Value Transparency (FVT) reporting requirements*, and curating content for the 2025 Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators Conference (including how to prepare submissions for the call for proposals). We will discuss strategies and opportunities for collaboration related to the reporting requirements, and provide an overview of what to expect from the call for proposals for the 2025 Conference.
*What Is GE/FVT?
The Department of Education last October published Gainful Employment and Financial Value Transparency regulations that will take effect on July 1 of this year with first reporting by October 1. The regulations establish that all colleges and universities will be assessed going forward as part of a new Financial Value Transparency Framework that will use Debt to Earnings (D/E) and Earnings Premium measures to gauge how much graduates earn and the amount of student debt they incur. Institutions that do not meet the D/E metric would need to issue a warning disclosure to be signed before entering an agreement to enroll the student.
The effort is intended to improve transparency around all higher education programs and collect information on such metrics as student costs, loans, institutional aid, debt and cost, among other elements to be shared on a future Department of Education website.
