Who Should Attend: American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in the allied health or medicine fields.
About the PAW: This Pre-Admission Workshop is being held through AAIP’s partnership with the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. The PAW is an event held to bring together AAIP member physicians, AI/AN college students, traditional healers, public health professionals, and other interested individuals with the goal of networking, learning and discussing the current state of Native health and health education.
Workshop Topics Include:
– Selecting a professional school
– Admissions tests (MCAT)
– Personal statements
– AMCAS application process
– Financial aid and scholarship resources
– Interview process including a mock interview
– Physician & medical student panel presentations
The Pre-Admission Workshop is a 2-day workshop aimed at addressing common challenges encountered by students in the health professional application process. The curriculum focuses on skills necessary for successful application and admittance to health professional school. AAIP has scholarships available to college students to cover the cost of airfare, hotel accommodations, conference registration and materials and most meals.
Scholarships: Scholarships for the July 2015 PAW are available and awarded on a one-time basis. These scholarships will cover airfare, lodging and meals.
Deadline for submission application and all requested materials is Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
