The Association of American Indian Physicians 43rd Annual Meeting


DEADLINE FRIDAY, JULY 11th, 2014!!!!

July 22-27, 2014, Denver, CO

“Now is Our Time for Optimizing Sustainable Change & Excellence in Health for Indian Country”

The Association of American Indian Physicians is seeking posters that address childhood obesity, strokes, mental health, cerebral vascular disease, kidney disease/renal failure, musculoskeletal disease, osteoarthritis, autoimmune disease/lupus, rheumatology, trauma-suicide, homicide, domestic violence, automobile accidents, poisoning, depression, fetal alcohol syndrome, HIV, Prostate cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, substance abuse and self-inflicted trauma.

WHO: Undergraduate students, graduate students, resident physicians, health care providers, physicians, and other meeting attendees with relevant AI/AN health research.


WHEN: Poster Submissions deadline July 11th, 2014! Poster judging session will be Friday, July 25, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at the Pow Wow.


WHERE: Hyatt Denver Tech Center, Denver, Colorado

Applications must include the following items:



There will be three categories:

1)    Undergraduate,

2)    Graduate/Medical Student and

3)    Professional (includes residents, health care providers, and physicians).


  • Cover letter with name, contact information, student or professional status and brief biographical sketch
  • Abstracts are limited to 250 words, single space, in MS WORD and must adhere to the following format:

Title:                                                      One line description

Author(s):                                    Underline the name of the person presenting the poster

Background:                                    State the health issue/problem and its impact

Objectives/Aims:                                  State the objectives/aims of the research

Methods:                  Describe the type of study, setting for the study, sample characteristics, measures used, how the analysis was conducted, etc.

Results:                  Key findings from the study (no charts or graphs)

Conclusions:                  The importance or relevance of results

Presenter Information:                  List your name, address, e-mail, phone and fax


Awards will be given to the top three overall research posters after a review by a panel of judges.

1st Prize = $300

  2nd Prize = $150

3rd Prize = $75

All Abstracts should be e-mailed to John Stafford  You will be notified by July 18th, 2014 if your poster is approved to compete.  Poster dimensions/guidelines will be included in notification.
