Surgeon General announces promotion of PHS officer and AAIP Member
September 30, 2015
On September 30, Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy announced the promotions of 14 U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Commissioned Corps officers to the Flag grades of O-7 and O-8.
I am pleased to announce that two Indian Health Service officers are among those being promoted. Please join me in congratulating Rear Admiral Kevin Meeks, Area Director, Oklahoma City Area, and CAPT C. Ty Reidhead, Chief Medical Officer, Phoenix Area, on their promotions to Rear Admiral (Upper Half) and Rear Admiral (Lower Half), respectively.
As these officers are recognized for their leadership, integrity, and accomplishments at the highest levels, the mission, values, and accomplishments of the Indian Health Service are also acknowledged.
Promotion to Flag grade is a highly-competitive, prestigious event in an officer’s career, as less than 1 percent of Commissioned Corps officers achieve this milestone. RADM Meeks and soon-to be RADM Reidhead join a distinguished group of current and retired officers here in the IHS and the Commissioned Corps. We congratulate them on this honor and thank them for their continued leadership and service to the IHS.
