AAIP announces Keynote speakers for the 52nd Annual Meeting & Health Conference

The Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) is proud to announce the 52nd Annual Meeting, set to take place September 5-8th at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This year’s meeting will highlight groundbreaking discussions and insights from a distinguished lineup of speakers.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Mandy Buss: A past president of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada, Dr. Buss will share her expertise on advancing Indigenous healthcare in Canada.
  • Loretta Christensen: As the Chief Medical Officer of the Indian Health Service, Dr. Christensen will discuss the current state and future directions of healthcare services for American Indian/Alaskan Native communities.
  • Alika LaFontaine: A past president of the Canadian Medical Association, Dr. LaFontaine will examine the process of truth and reconciliation, drawing insights and lessons learned from Canada’s efforts and experiences.
  • Joseph Gone: A Professor of Anthropology and Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard University and Faculty Director of the Harvard University Native American Program, Dr. Gone will explore how Indigenous communities can assert their resilience and cultural strength in the face of historical traumas.
  • Chef Sean Sherman: An acclaimed chef, entrepreneur, author, and founder of the nonprofit North American Traditional Indigenous Food System, Chef Sherman will discuss the transformation and revitalization of traditional Indigenous food practices and their significance in contemporary society.
  • Bruce Scott: As the President-Elect of the American Medical Association, Dr. Scott will share his vision for incorporating Indigenous health issues into broader medical practice and policy.

This year’s event promises to be a milestone in advancing the healthcare of Native American communities through shared knowledge, collaboration, and innovation.
