Medicine Pathways for Advancing Tribal Healthcare (PATH)

This initiative provides 8 American Indian and Alaska Native students who have an interest in becoming a physician, with the chance to gain hands-on clinical shadowing experience, participate in professional development sessions, and network with American Indian Alaska Native healthcare professionals at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. About M-PATH:
The M-PATH program is a hybrid model (with an in-person 3-week summer component and longitudinal yearlong virtual sessions) designed to empower 8 American Indian and Alaska Native students through immersive clinical experiences, professional development workshops, mentoring, and sponsorship for those interested in the physician pathway. Key Highlights:

  • A 3-week in-person component based at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with clinical shadowing experiences in a wide variety of medical specialties, professional development sessions such as personal statement writing and presentations skills, simulation workshops, overview of the medical school admission process, networking opportunities, and library research skills.
  • One-year longitudinal component with ongoing professional development sessions and individual career guidance sessions.

  • Dates: Monday, June 2, 2025 – Friday, June 20, 2025
  • Location: Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA
  • Covered Expenses: Travel, flights, lodging, program materials, and most meals are covered by FLIP.
